Reverend Michael J. Mathey
I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago, and attended college at Concordia University in River Forest, IL majoring in education. After serving the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod for five years as a Director of Christian Education, I enrolled in Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO in the year 2000. My wife, Debra, and I lived in St. Louis for four of the five years of my education, and the fifth year was spent in Rapid City, South Dakota for my vicarage, which is a required year of internship that all prospective pastors must complete. After I received my Master of Divinity degree in 2005, I was ordained on August 27th of that same year, and began my service in the Office of the Holy Ministry at Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, MO. There God blessed my wife and I with our first child, Timothy.
In 2009 I accepted a call to St. John Lutheran Church in Pickerel, WI, and we moved to that area in March. I served at St. John and as chaplain for the Pickerel Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department for 8 years until I accepted the call here to Faith in Marinette. My family, now blessed with my daughter, Kelly since 2006, is excited to be here in this great area, and we are looking forward to serving the Lord with joy as we work together in this part of His Kingdom.
Hi, my name is Kylie Sebero and I am the new Administrative Assistant at Faith Lutheran Church.
I am originally from western Nebraska where I grew up on the family farm. I graduated in 2009 from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, majoring in Recreation Management and minoring in Criminal Justice.
I have spent the last ten years in Wisconsin raising my family while working off and on for the Wisconsin DNR. My husband and I met while I was living in Alaska and he was working for the forest service. We have three kids and two dogs. When I’m not at work or running the kids around, I can usually be found in the garden, canning, fishing, kayaking, or hunting.
Ms Ashley Gauthier
Hello! My name is Ashley Gauthier. I have recently joined Faith Lutheran Preschool as the preschool director in May 2018. I am originally from southern Door County, where I graduated and went on to college to earn my Early Childhood Education Degree. I graduated from NWTC in May 2015 and have worked in child care for 5 years. I now live here, in Marinette, and have a boyfriend who has two children. My hobbies include camping, going to the beach, cooking, and bargain shopping! I am so blessed to have the privilege of holding the preschool director position here, at Faith Lutheran! I look forward to meeting and working with all of you!
Mrs. Kim Wright
Thanks to my parents, I was raised in the LCMS. In my young adult years, I taught Sunday School to little ones in several congregations. After moving to Marinette with two young sons, I became involved with Faith’s children, first as Sunday School Superintendent (1997-2006) and now as Youth Leader & Sunday School Teacher (2005 - present).
As Faith's Youth Leader I feel it is important to offer a Church-wide ministry which reaches out to help our youth to:
Develop and grow in the fullness of the Christian (Lutheran) faith
Apply Christian faith to everyday life
Become informed and active members of our congregation
Share God-given talents to serve others in need (family, friends, Church and community)
Build sensitivity and respect for others
Discover new friendships
Be offered mentorship of faithful adults who love and accept them as they are, walk with them on their spiritual journey, and help them navigate challenges along their way.
All this can be accomplished through God's Word, prayer, a variety of activities, opportunities, and experiences!
Mrs. Judy Stroming
Worship Music Director and Organist
During my years at St. James church and school I was always active in the music life of the church in one capacity or another. Serious volunteer involvement began in the early 70's when I became responsible for organizing, maintaining and directing the new hand bell program. Overseeing 4-5 choirs on an annual basis, preparing concerts, attending conventions, outside programs and trips was the main focus of my time and energy. In the early 90's I was hired as the music teacher, responsible for the K-8 music program at the school, helping with the organ responsibilities for church services, weddings and funerals, directing the school choirs grades 4-8, and continuing to direct and maintain the hand bell choir program. When I retired I moved to Marinette in the summer of 2003. I thank God that I was given the opportunity to once again use my gift of music.
